The Important of Forest

           Water is important forest product. Forest soils behave like giant sponges. They soak up the rain that seeps into the earth. In high mountain forest, water and vapor are shaded from the sun and shelter from dying winds, so it can last long. Most towns and cities depend on these forest reservoirs. Forest streams also flow in dry weather. But when trees are cut, the soil is exposed and washed or blown away. Then rain runs quickly, causing erosion and floods.

            Wildlife is another forest resource. The forest provides food and shelter for a large and varied population of birds and animal. Millions of people look at forest as place of recreation. Hiking, picnicking, sightseeing, fishing, camping, swimming, and other outdoor activities become more popular each year.
